All
items to be purchased meet the 111/2 of 1 percent" minimum
threshold value set for associated capital maintenance
items by UMTA in UMTA circular 9030.1A. N.C. 86 north
corridor. Bus service will be provided to the Town
Center and University areas which are heavily congested
and which have limited parking. The projected
construction costs are $600,000; $62,500 is requested for
engineering and design work.
Preliminary site selection studies for a park /ride
facility along the N.C. 86 corridor indicate that several
locations should be investigated further during the
engineering and design phase. The park /ride site will use
approximately six acres, with land acquisition cost
estimated at $210,000. The engineering and design work
will involve specific site selection. The required
independent appraisal will be done to verify the land
value and submitted to UMTA and NCDOT.
The Town proposes purchasing three support vehicles to
replace vehicles which will, at the time of their
replacement, meet UMTA's requirements for vehicle
replacement set forth in UMTA Circular 9030.1A.
