2
The comments made by the Public, the Board of County Commissioners, the
Planning Committee and the Historic District Commission were considered
and incorporated into the design being presented on April 1.
In addition, the Architects have met extensively with County
Departments over the past four months in order to design an efficient,
functional floor plan. That process is now complete and the
construction documents are being prepared.
From a regulatory process stand - -point the following action has been
taken:
December 5, 1990 -- Courtesy review with the Hillsborough Historic
District Commission;
December 6, 1990 --- Courtesy review with the Hillsborough Planning
Board;
March 13, 1991 -- Courtesy review with the Hillsborough Hoard of
Adjustment with generally favorable response.
March 20, 1991 -7Hillsborough Historic District Commission formally
reviewed project, requesting two additional weeks for study.
April 3, 1991 -- Hillsborough Historic District Commission third
review. We will hopefully receive approval following this meeting.
April 10, 1991 -- Hillsborough Board of Adjustment will formally
react to the plan. If approved, the zoning compliance permit can
be issued at which time plans will be bid.
In order to have the contract approved by July 1 and to realize the
benefits of a currently soft construction market, it is critically
important that approvals be in place by mid - April. If these time
frames are met, bids will be solicited by the end of May, with bid
award and contract approval coming before the County Commissioners on
June 3 and June 25 respectively.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the final design for the Government Services
Center.
