NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill - 967 - 9251/968 -4501 <br />PURPOSE: To approve the Board of County Commissioners goals for <br />1991. <br />BACKGROUND: At the December Board Retreat, the County Commis- <br />sioners confirmed the goals to be pursued for 1991. <br />The management staff and department heads responded <br />to those goals with specific objectives and plans of <br />action during the Department Head Retreat on <br />January 17 -18, 1991. <br />The Board began discussion the goals at the February <br />19 meeting, but time was not sufficient to complete <br />deliberation; and this item has been carried over. <br />Specific verbal or written comments by Board members <br />have been incorporated with reference to the following <br />goals: <br />1. Long Range Planning - Addition of Objective <br />4, page 3. <br />2. Water Resources Development and Protection - To <br />develop a plan for the use and control of optional <br />waste treatment systems which permits flexible <br />land development and protects the environment. In <br />response to comments regarding the integration of <br />waste treatment system control process into an <br />overall water resource impact analysis system, a <br />new goal was added under this subject. The devel- <br />opment of waste treatment strategy under the Rural <br />Character Goals was deleted upon request. <br />
