This would be more advantageous to the local law officers in <br />arresting the guilty persons involved and not having to <br />harass the innocent ones. <br />The new proposal on hunting will only cause harassment for <br />coonhunters, rabbit hunters. and bird hunters. It will not <br />cease the negligence of those hunters you are really trying <br />to stop - "the dump out of the truck road shooters ". <br />These are the reasons that coonhunters are in opposltlon to <br />the new ordinance: <br />1. Law enforcement officers cannot even enforce the <br />current law. <br />2. It would cause even more calls In regards to the <br />same complaints that exist now. Thus promoting <br />friction between hunters and law officers without <br />offering any new solutions. <br />3. It would not enhance relationships between hunters <br />and land owners. <br />4. The number of existing law breakers will not decline <br />merely because of the birth of a new law due to the <br />fact that those same persons have not respected the <br />current one. They know that there are not enough <br />law enforcers to catch them now. <br />S. The words "to hunt" are too vague and seem to <br />pertain to the entire spectrum of those who hunt. <br />It is my belief that the issue is really about <br />"deer road hunting" and firing of rifles across <br />properties. . <br />5. The type of running habit that a raccoon has pre- <br />vents a coon hunter from knowing where his dogs are <br />going to end up when they start a track. A coon <br />may run a track from 1/4 mile to 2 miles before be- <br />ing treed by the dogs. In Orange County. this may <br />take you across numerous properties. Also. the <br />S <br />
