E ;) 0 to) <br />WHEREAS, Orange County has shown a dedicated effort to provide <br />quality services and support to the more than 2,700 <br />Orange County citizens who have mental retardation and <br />their families; and <br />WHEREAS, it is vital to continue the efforts of Orange County and <br />the Association for Retarded citizens of Orange County <br />to develop and provide services to meet the needs of <br />those in our community who are affected by developmental <br />disabilities; and <br />WHEREAS, for twenty -five years the Association for retarded <br />Citizens of orange County has promoted awareness of the <br />needs and abilities of persons with developmental <br />disabilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Association for Retarded Citizens of Orange County <br />works closely with Orange County, Orange County schools, <br />Orange - Person- Chatham Mental Retardation/ Developmental <br />Disabilities Services, and Orange Enterprises to develop <br />and provide services and programs necessary to meet the <br />needs of members of our community who have developmental <br />disabilities; and <br />WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of these organizations have <br />and will continue to make orange County a good place for <br />people with developmental disabilities to learn, live, <br />work and play. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Moses Carey Jr., on behalf of the Orange County <br />Board of Commissioners, does hereby proclaim March, 1991 <br />as <br />MENTAL RETARDATION AWARENESS MONTH <br />in Orange County and urge all of our citizens to learn <br />more about mental retardation so that they might be good <br />neighbors, co- workers and friends to our citizens who <br />have this developmental disability. <br />S E A L <br />Date <br />
