C. 2751E
Subject: Regulatibns and Legislation Relating to haunting
My husband and I live on Stanford Road in Bingham Township and
MY family owns farmland along this road. We see deer often.
Many nights we see "spotlighters" going very slowly up and down
the road. We can never be sure someone is not going to fire a
gun from the road.
We have not allowed much huntino on our land but many times have
had to leave notes on cars or trucks or have had to ask someone
to leave. This is a problem.
When dove season opens at sunrise it sounds as if we are in a
battle zone because the neighboring farm allows hunting, We
have had gun shot in our yards and on the roof of our house.
Also we have to bring our dog in and our family stays in the house because of fear of getting shot. The hunters were so
close to residences that my next door neighbor had a dead dove
land in her yard.
Houses are close to areas of hunting in- 'the county now and you
can not feel safe from bullets. There needs to be more control over
hunters and perhaps a regulation to prevent hunters to fire
guns within a set distance from - esidences.
I favcx the resolution prohibiting the use of spotlights. favor
having written permission for hunters but there needs to be i
more control. I would like for you to consider limiting use
of high -power rifles and also set a limitation on distances
persons can hunt near residences. This is very important. to
homeowners. Hunters even with permission are °ncroaching on
People and we loose p2.- of our `reedom because of noise and fear
of being shot. We need also more resources to help keep hunters
Off our land and-we need t^ feel safe in Lur awn yards and on
our own land.
