Lane
Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
Re: Rogulation and legislation relating to hunting;
Public Hearing of March 4, 1991
Dear Honorable Commissioners:
I am writing to offer my written comment prior to the above-
referenced hearing. In behalf of my parents, who are longtime
residents of Orange County, I would urge you to adopt the most
stringent measures possible regarding this matter.
While a resident of Orange County, and subsequently on trips
to visit my family, I have seen firsthand the remains of deer,
following illegal nighttime hunting. This illegal hunting not only
threatens the wildlife of Orange County, but more importantly, the
safety of its residents in this increasingly urban area.
In particular, I would urge the complete prohibition of
Spotlighting. This practice only encourages unlawful. hunting.
Additionally, I would suggest more severe punishment. The
current fines would appear to be no deterrent.
Thank you for your consideration with regard to this matter.
Very truly yours,
BLUE, FELLER.ATH, CL INGER & BARBOUR, P.A.
Frederick S.
