Attorney <br />12/11/90 Public Hearing Minutes <br />1/28/91 Planning Board Minutes <br />(Draft) <br />PUBLIC HEARING Yes —X-No <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Mary Scearbo ext. 2583 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />Mebane -- 227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill -- 967 -9251 <br />PURPOSE: To consider a proposed Zoning Ordinance amendment deleting <br />any role for the Development Advisory Committee in the <br />issuance of Stop Work Orders. <br />BACKGROUND: On October 17, 1989, the Board of Commissioners approved an <br />amendment which allows the Zoning Officer is issue a Stop <br />Work Order for activity which violates provisions of the <br />Zoning Ordinance and could cause irreparable injury if <br />allowed to continue. <br />The amendment involved changes to several sections of the <br />Ordinance. Article 2.4.2.1 was amended to expand the <br />duties of the Development Advisory Committee to render <br />advise to the Zoning Officer in the issuance of Stop Work <br />Orders. <br />The County Attorney has indicated that the Development <br />Advisory Committee should have no role in the enforcement <br />of the Ordinance. The proposed amendment would delete <br />paragraph 2.4.2.1(e), which was inadvertently recommended <br />for approval on October 17, 1989. <br />The proposed amendment was presented for public hearing on <br />December 11, 1990. There were no comments. <br />The Planning Board considered the proposed amendment on <br />January 28, 1991 and recommended approval. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends approval of the proposed <br />amendment. <br />
