Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Dear Mr. Carey: <br />I would like to ask for your help in opposing the N.C. Department of Transportation's proposed <br />widening of NC 54 -- from the current two -lane to a four -lane highway, extending from Chapel Hill <br />to Burlington. <br />This project is excessive in cost and totally unnecessary considering the present amount of traffic. <br />Considering our state's ever - growing economic problems, it would seem more prudent to wait until <br />the demand exists. <br />At present I think that 46 million dollars could be put to more constructive uses. <br />Please express your opposition to this project to the N.C.
