Passmore, ext 2000 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER - <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 968 -4501 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To authorize a resolution to apply for UMTA Section 18- Capital <br />funding and enter into an agreement with the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation. <br />BACKGROUND: Orange County Commissioners approved on January 22, 1991 <br />an updated Transportation Development Plan (TDP). The <br />approved plan makes the County eligible for federal and <br />state funding of vehicles and equipment requested in the <br />document over a four year period. <br />The plan for FY91 -92 involves the purchase of five 14 - <br />passenger vans, two 14 - passenger vans with lifts, one <br />24 - passenger bus, two minivans and five mobile radios <br />to provide human service transportation. The C.A.T. <br />(Coordinated Agency Transportation) Program will administer <br />the grant and coordinate the use of approved equipment. <br />The total cost is $233,300 with 60% requested from UMTA 200 <br />from the N.C. Department of Transportation and 20% from <br />local agencies. Local match is provided by participating <br />C.A.T. agencies assigned use of the equipment. <br />A required public hearing on Orange County's proposed UMTA, <br />Section 18 application will be held by the Orange County <br />Human Services Transportation Advisoryu Board on Tuesday, <br />February 26, 1991, 9:30 P.M., 300 W. Tryon St., Hillsborough, <br />N.C. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Chair to sign necessary <br />documents subject to the review of the County <br />Attorney. <br />
