RESOLUTIONS /PROCLAMATIONS <br />A. RESOLUTION OF REMEMBRANCE FOR JAY THOMAS <br />Commissioner Halkiotis read and presented this resolution to <br />Mr. -and Mrs. Phil Thomas. Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, <br />seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to approve the resolution as stated <br />below: <br />RESOLUTION OF REMEMBRANCE <br />for <br />JAY THOMAS <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas entered the Navy in 1984 and just recently <br />reenlisted for his second term achieving the rank of Second <br />Class Petty Officer, and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas served as a Navy Aircraft Technician and was a <br />lifelong resident of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and <br />a student of Chapel Hill High School, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board -of County Commissioners has learned with deep <br />regret of the death of Mr. Jay Thomas, on January 6, 1991, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas was the first soldier from the Raleigh- Durham area <br />to be taken from our midst in Saudi Arabia, and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas served the citizens of the United States <br />faithfully and honorably in the military. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners on behalf of all the citizens of Orange County <br />wish to present this Resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Phil Thomas, <br />the parents of Jay Thomas, as an expression of sympathy and <br />loss to our community, and as a remembrance of his dedication <br />to serve his country, and, <br />
