1't';yler og — Z/— w <br />RESOLUTION OF REMEMBRANCE <br />for <br />JAY THOMAS <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas entered the Navy in 1984 and just recently <br />reenlisted for his second term achieving the rank of <br />Second Class Petty Officer, and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas served as a Navy Aircraft Technician and was <br />• lifelong resident of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and <br />• student of Chapel Hill High School, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has learned with deep <br />regret of the death of Mr. Jay Thomas, on January 6, <br />1991, and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas was the first soldier from the Raleigh- Durham <br />area to be taken from our midst in Saudi Arabia, and <br />WHEREAS, Jay Thomas served the citizens of the United States <br />faithfully and honorably in the military. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners on behalf of all the citizens of Orange <br />County wish to present this Resolution to Mr. and Mrs. <br />Phil Thomas, the parents of Jay Thomas, as an expression <br />of sympathy and loss to our community, and as a <br />remembrance of his dedication to serve his country, and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting as a reminder to those who come <br />after this time of Jay Thomas' human compassion, and <br />willingness to give his life in the service of his <br />country. <br />Adopted this 4th day of February, 1991 in Orange County, North <br />Caro ina. <br />Of <br />r <br />Moses Carey, Jr., C 'r Stephen H.
