we] <br />f <br />Section 1.2 Qualifications <br />Each member shall be a resident of Orange County. In <br />addition, a majority of the members of the Commission shall have <br />demonstrated special interest, experience or education in <br />history, architecture, landscape architecture, archaeology or <br />related fields. <br />Section 1.3 Tenure <br />Each member of the Commission shall be appointed by the <br />Board of County Commissioners. The tenure of office shall be <br />three (3) years, and appointments shall be made so that-one -third <br />(1/3) of the terms expire in February of each calendar <br />year. <br />Members are eligible for reappointment for a second <br />consecutive full term. However, after two (2) consecutive terms, <br />a member shall be ineligible for reappointment for one year after <br />the expiration of the previous terms. In determining eligibility <br />of reappointment, appointments made to fill vacancies for <br />unexpired terms shall not be counted as a term. <br />Section-.1.4 Meetings <br />A quorum for conducting business of the Commission shall <br />be a majority of the appointed members. The Commission shall meet <br />at least once each month; provided, however, a regularly <br />scheduled meeting may be canceled due to inclimate weather, or <br />due to the lack of a quorum of members or business to conduct. <br />All meetings of the Commission shall be open to the public, <br />and the Commission shall cause notices to be given as required by <br />Article 33 -C, Chapter 143 of the North Carolina General Statutes, <br />G.S. 143 - 318.11 ET.SEQ., as amended. A public record shall be <br />kept of the Commission's resolutions, proceedings, and actions. <br />Section „1.5 .,Attendance of Meetings <br />Attendance at the regular meetings of the Commission shall <br />be considered a prerequisite for maintenance of membership on the <br />Commission. The County Commissioners may declare a vacancy on the <br />Commission because of a member's non - attendance. <br />Absence due to sickness, death of an immediate family member <br />or similar reason shall be considered approved absences and shall <br />not affect the member's status. In the event of long illness or <br />other cause for prolonged absence, the member shall be replaced. <br />
