RESOLUTIONSLPROCLAMATIONS <br />A. RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION FOR J. LOGAN IRVIN <br />Commissioner Gordon presented this resolution for approval. She <br />served on the Planning Board with Dr. Irvin and commended his wisdom <br />and outstanding leadership on the Planning Board and the Board of <br />Adjustment. She will present this Resolution of Appreciation to Mrs. <br />Irvin. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Chairman <br />Carey to adopt the resolution of appreciation as stated.below: <br />RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />for <br />J. LOGAN IRVIN, JR. <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Irvin served on the Orange County Board of Adjustment <br />from October, 1970 through June, 1978, serving as Chair for <br />seven of those years, and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Irvin served on the Orange County Planning Board from <br />August 1978 until his death on March 31, 1984 serving as <br />Chair for one year, and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Irvin displayed great wisdom and outstanding leadership <br />which improved the quality of decisions made during his <br />tenure on these Boards, and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Irvin, through his hard work and dedication, earned the <br />respect and appreciation of government officials, peers, <br />coworkers and citizens of Orange County, and <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Irvin, through his influence on the Board of Adjustment <br />and the Planning Board, displayed his support, cooperation <br />and promotion of the welfare and safety of each County <br />citizen, <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners on behalf of the citizens of Orange County <br />expresses to his wife, Elinor Irvin its sincere appreciation <br />and gratitude for Dr. Irvin's many years of service and <br />contributions to orange County. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be presented to Elinor Irvin <br />with the expressed sympathy of the members of this Board and that a copy <br />of the resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />V11. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />A. ORANGE COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION PRESENTATION OF GRANT AWARDS <br />AND REPORT <br />Joan Cohen, Chair of the Orange County Arts Commission thanked <br />the Orange County Commissioners for their support and contributions to <br />the Arts Commission. She stated that Orange County has more artists per <br />capita than any other County in North Carolina. <br />Chairman Carey presented grants to sixteen groups. These are <br />listed in the agenda abstract. <br />
