2 ` <br />contractual arrangement with Southern Media in phases. Phase <br />I: Preproduction, the cost would be $4,960. Phase II: <br />Production, would be the actual video shooting, audio and <br />editing. This cost would be approximately $6,060 (video <br />shooting will be donated by a local television station or <br />local cable company). Phase III: Postproduction, include <br />editing of special effects, and transfer of video tape to <br />laser disk (actual transfer of video tape to 24 -Hour <br />Computer). The cost for this phase would be approximately <br />$6,700. The total cost for pre-production, production and <br />post production would be $17,720. This is $4,520 less than <br />the original amount ($22,240) submitted by Southern Media in <br />late Summer 1990. The reduction reflects the donated vide <br />shooting. (See attached memorandum from Southern Media date <br />January 17, 1991.) <br />To date approximately $26,000 has been expended for the <br />project. Long term training /technical assistance from Public <br />Technology and IBM $8,000 and $18,000 for computer hardware. <br />Approximately, $24,000 remains in the 24 -Hour Courthouse <br />Budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve contract /proposal with Southern Media Design <br />and Production, Inc., of Chapel Hill for an amount not <br />to exceed $17,720; contingent upon County Attorney <br />review; and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of <br />the Board. <br />
