Of the total amount, $61,000 is reserved for grants in communities that participate in the Certified Local Government (CLG) program. Chapel Hill became a CLG in October, 1990 and is eligible for such grants. The remaining communities, including Orange County, may apply for grants from the remaining $40,000. Grant applications must be completed and submitted to the HPO by January 31, 1991. Grants will be awarded in May, 1991, and projects may begin in June, 1991. Projects must be completed by July 31, 1992.
