Thus, instead of a public health nurse, <br />as originally proposed, we are seeking authority to add a half -time <br />social worker to be combined with the half -time Baby Love coordinator <br />position. We have experienced difficulty recruiting for the latter <br />position, the duties of which are very similar to the former. The <br />annualized cost of the half -time position is estimated at $14,300. <br />In addition, we are asking permission to add a clerical supervisor <br />because of the increased complexity of the medical record documentation <br />and the billing procedures required by this program. The need for this <br />supervisory position has been felt for some time since we have added <br />new programs and clinical staff without adding clerical positions to <br />handle the increased patient load. The annualized cost for this <br />position is estimated at $22,900. <br />Both positions requested would be permanent, thereby entitling the <br />employees to benefits, but would have their continuation beyond FY <br />1990 -91 subject to the availablity of additional grant and /or Medicaid <br />revenue to cover program expenditures. Recruitment and hiring would be <br />accomplished with these conditions fully explained to applicants. <br />The Board of Health reviewed and approved the above proposal at its <br />meeting of October 25, 1990. <br />RECOMMENDATIONCS): To accept the State funding, adopt the <br />proposed budget ordinance amendment, approve the establishment of a <br />permanent half -time Social Worker position and a permanent full - <br />time Clerical Supervisor position (subject to continued funding), and <br />authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
