8-Develop alternative means to provide other sex role 14 <br />modeling in single parent families. <br />ongoing The Human Services Management Team has submitted an <br />Opportunities for Families Fund (OFF) grant proposal to <br />the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. The proposal targets <br />Poor adolescent males and their families in order to <br />increase the capability of young males to be self -- <br />supporting and actively involved in the family unit. <br />9.Reestablish neighborhood connections: <br />-Focus community initiative to respond collectively to <br />family needs <br />Future A major focus of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation <br />Opportunities for Families (OFF) grant proposal is family - <br />centered service delivery that will be delivered whenever <br />possible within the community setting. <br />10.Incorporate peer groups into pre - existing community <br />resources and services. <br />ongoing The Health Department has received funding for and <br />initiated an AIDS education project, 11In the Knows,, using <br />peer helpers to communicate accurate information about <br />AIDS transmission and prevention and high risk behaviors. <br />ongoing Planned Parenthood has instituted the Minority Involvement <br />Project utilizing peer helpers to reduce minority teen <br />pregnancy. <br />Future The opportunities for Families proposal includes a peer <br />support component. <br />ll.Develop a "Drop In" Center for teens. <br />12.Develop an array of appropriate social and recreational <br />resources and activities. <br />ongoing There are a variety of new County Recreation and Parks <br />Department initiatives. <br />ongoing The County Parks and Recreation /County 4- H- initiated Teen <br />Club continues to sponsor monthly teen dances. <br />
