ongoing Department of social services and Juvenile Court 13 <br />Counselors have jointly conducted parenting education <br />meetings for parents of abused and /or neglected children <br />in northern Orange County. This effort is now being <br />expanded to southern orange County and will have a <br />counseling focus. <br />2.Develop training services: <br />-Focus on how single parent families can meet <br />adolescent needs <br />-Focus on how parents can meet family needs when both <br />work <br />3.Support "moderately" distressed families as well as those <br />with acute needs. <br />4.Sensitize families to needs of adolescents. <br />5.Assist families in tapping into resources of extended <br />families or components for lack of extended family. <br />6-Develop partnership with the business community to respond <br />to employee family needs. <br />6.Zncrease option for out -of -home placements while families <br />restructure. <br />ongoing The volunteer Emergency Families with Children program <br />initiated in 1989 recruits and trains community volunteers <br />to provide short -term out -of- home - placements for children <br />in distress. <br />7.Develop resources to work with families in serious <br />distress: <br />-Use of volunteers to supplement resources <br />ongoing United Way has applied for grant funding for a volunteer <br />action center. <br />
