5 <br />2.Develop partnerships with employers to support high school <br />completion by not hiring fifteen to nineteen year olds <br />unless they stay in school and by giving them flexible <br />work hours. <br />ongoing The orange County Dropout Prevention /At -Risk Coordinator, <br />hired in December 1989, will convene a Community Advisory <br />Council by January 1991. The Council responsibilities <br />will include developing school /business partnerships. <br />Ongoing The Chapel Hill /Carrboro At -Risk Coordinator of Drop -Out <br />Prevention and the Orange County Drop -Out <br />Prevention /At -Risk Coordinator are jointly examining <br />school- business partnership models. <br />3.Add counselors at orange High School to increase ratio to <br />two counselors per grade. <br />ongoing One counselor has been added to the Orange High School <br />faculty. Two system -wide social worker positions have <br />been added, with one social worker primarily responsible <br />for Orange High school. A system -wide psychologist <br />position has been added, with the psychologist primarily <br />responsible for Orange High. <br />4.Continue successful intervention projects, such as the <br />Medical Concerns Assessment Team, Action Team, and <br />guidance groups. <br />Ongoing Chapel Hill /Carrboro City schools continue to utilize core <br />groups at the high school, and Student Assistance Teams in <br />the middle schools, for high risk students. An <br />Alternative Education program has also been instituted at <br />Chapel Hill High School for high risk students. <br />Ongoing Orange High School continues to utilize an Action Team and <br />support groups for high risk students. Assistance Teams <br />have been established at each County middle school; the <br />Dropout -Out Prevention /At -Risk Coordinator and the Alcohol <br />and Other Drug Education Coordinator will oversee the <br />student assistance program. <br />
