El <br />ongoing Several programs within the school systems promote 3 <br />cooperative efforts between the schools and sources of <br />employment. <br />3.Coordinate after -hours use of school facilities (such as <br />computer labs and shops) to promote education and training. <br />- Encourage involvement by volunteers and businesses <br />4.Establish a satellite Community College Campus in the <br />County. <br />Ongoing Durham Tech has satellite centers at Culbreth Junior <br />High School and Stanford Middle School where community <br />college courses are provided after school hours. <br />ongoing The Economic Development Commission is submitting a 1991- <br />1996 Capital Improvements Plan request which includes <br />permanent space for Durham Tech for administrative offices <br />and classrooms. <br />5.Establish a career information center: <br />- Redirect services and funds for non - college -bound <br />students <br />Completed Career Information and Career Counseling are provided by <br />both school systems for non - college -bound students. <br />6.Provide adequate funding for basic education and job <br />training /retraining. <br />Future Participants in the Welfare Reform Job Opportunities and <br />Baisc Skills Program (JOBS) program will be eligible for <br />job skill training, job readiness activities, job <br />placement activities, and on- the -job training. <br />Future The Human Services Management Team has submitted an <br />Opportunities for Families Fund (OFF) grant proposal to the <br />Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. The proposal includes as one <br />of its goals the improvement of education and training for <br />technical jobs. <br />7.Lengthen school day and school year to provide better <br />educational base for both college -bound and non- college- <br />bound students. <br />
