Ted <br />Abernathy said that Mebane was hiring a new Economic Development <br />Director and hoped that Mebane would soon have a representative. <br />I. Strategic Plan Update <br />Lindsay Efland, TAG Chair said that the committee had approved the <br />revised pre- zoning agreement. He added that he hoped that eventually <br />we could have regular Economic Development and Mixed Use Districts. It <br />was agreed that at this juncture, the agreement would just serve as a <br />guide for further development. Guido De Maere questioned the <br />aesthetics section of the standards. Marvin Collins pointed out such <br />considerations as the Rural Character Study, the protection of Historic <br />Landmarks and designated rural landscapes. Ted Abernathy suggested <br />that although we may not use the aesthetic standards, it would be wise <br />to consider everything initially and then cut back. Jim Gibson <br />motioned that the agreement be approved. Robin Zill second. Passed by <br />unanimous vote. <br />It was moved by Shirley Reynolds that the EDC have their October <br />meeting on the 9th at 5:00 p.m. and then attend the Planning Board <br />meeting at 7 :30 for their final mutual approval of the agreement. <br />Notion seconded by Jim Gibson. <br />Jim Gibson reported that the Small Busymm Group added nine <br />members. He said that the SBTDC Center would be opening in late <br />October. They have begun investigating working with financial <br />institutions regarding loans. <br />
