8 <br />Zoning Case No. 50 <br />RALPH TURNER <br />Route 2, Box 4 <br />Efland, NC 27243 <br />Location: South Side of US 70 East of Forrest Road <br />Township: Cheeks <br />Tax Map: 3.40.C.3 <br />Zoning District: Neighborhood Commercial -II (NC -2) <br />Violations: Outside storage of junked motor vehicles, <br />reconditioned construction equipment, "tires, <br />batteries, building materials and debris, <br />and trash <br />Accumulated Civil Penalties as October 24, 1990: $3,000 <br />Comments: After the first letter, Mr. Turner seemed to <br />be very willing to cooperate by cleaning -up <br />his property to bring it into compliance, <br />but there was no immediate follow- through. <br />A second letter was rejected after three at- <br />tempts to have it delivered. Later it was <br />sent in a plain envelope with a private <br />return address on it. Soon after the second <br />letter was sent, Mr. Turner responded posi- <br />tively by having a yellow Thunderbird moved <br />from the edge of the right -of --way of US 70 <br />to the side of his building, but since then <br />no other attempts to bring the property into <br />compliance have been evident. <br />Recommendation: That demand be made for payment of civil <br />penalties at $100 per day beginning on <br />September 22, 1990, in the amount of <br />.$3,000 as of October 24, 1990. <br />e <br />
