Zoning Ordinance Text Amendments <br />(1) Article 22 Definitions (Arts & Crafts Studio) <br />(2) Article 4.3 Table of Permitted Uses <br />(Arts & Crafts Studios) <br />Presentation by Mary Scearbo. <br />This item is to consider a proposed amendment to <br />include arts and crafts studios as a permitted <br />use in commercial zoning districts. <br />An arts and crafts studio may qualify as a home <br />occupation, but there is no category in the Table <br />of Permitted Uses which addresses a studio as a <br />f.reestanding.use. <br />Recently a building permit was requested to <br />construct a kiln for the firing of sculptors. <br />Manufacturing and Processing, allowed only in <br />industrial zoning districts, was identified as <br />the use category which most closely matched the <br />proposed use. The Standard Industrial Code <br />Manual classifies a studio as a service - oriented <br />use. <br />The proposed amendment was presented for public <br />hearing on August 30, 1990. There was no <br />comment. <br />The Planning Staff recommends approval of the <br />proposed amendment. <br />Jacobs asked if there was a size limit on an art: <br />and crafts studio. Scearbo responded that the <br />limitation is to products that are manually <br />produced. <br />MOTION: Best moved approval as recommended by the <br />Planning Staff. Seconded by Waddell. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. <br />c. Subdivision Regulations Text Amendments <br />(1) Section IV -B -1 Lot Standards <br />Presentation by Mary Scearbo. <br />This item is to consider a proposed amendment t <br />establish minimum lot sizes to accommodate <br />various types of wastewater disposal and water <br />supply. <br />
