14 <br />PHASE 2: DESIGN <br />This phase of the study will include evaluating the equipment from the <br />assessments of the Data Processing Department and the individual Human Services <br />departments and designing.a Master Client Index File system for Orange County. The <br />tasks associated with this phase are described below and consist of: <br />Task 4: Evaluate and design hardware layout for the networked system <br />• Task 5: Evaluate and design software data specifications <br />• Task 6: Estimate System cost <br />• Task 7: Meet with Human Services Management Team <br />Task 4; Evaluate and design hardware layout for the networked system <br />The hardware and network needs of the Data Processing Department and each of <br />the eleven Human Service departments will be evaluated in order to design an efficient <br />network system that will best meet the requirements of Orange County's Human Services <br />Management Team. For this design, consideration will be given to existing and proposed <br />hardware as well as any new hardware that is needed to support network software for the <br />system. The physical location of a main computer server and all the individual <br />computers in the system will be determined. It may also be possible to share equipment <br />that departments already possess; this may make access to the system more convenient <br />and reduce costs. <br />...............
