Department of Economic and Community Development <br />Department and receive comments regarding the amendment. <br />BACKGROUND: Because of the extensive repairs required for one dwelling <br />unit in the Rencher Street Area it is necessary to <br />temporarily relocate the occupant during housing <br />rehabilitation. The original Rencher Street budget does not <br />include a line item for relocation, therefore there is a <br />need to create a budget for this purpose. <br />County staff is proposing a transfer of funds from the <br />clearance and acquisition line items to create the <br />relocation budget. Funds in these budgets will not be <br />needed as originally proposed. <br />State regulations require any activity changes in the <br />original grant program receive prior approval from the <br />Department of Economic and Community Development. The State <br />also requires a public hearing to be held to receive <br />citizen input prior to submission of a program amendment. <br />All residents in the Rencher Street CDBG Area have been <br />contacted regarding this proposed amendment. <br />Approval of this program amendment will enable the Housing <br />and Community Development Department to adequately complete <br />this CDBG Project. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />1 - Receive comments regarding the CDBG Program Amendment. <br />2 - Authorize submission of the CDBG Program Amendment <br />for the Rencher Street Community to the N.C. Department of <br />Economic and Community Development Department and authorize <br />the Chair to sign the amendment documents on behalf of the <br />Board. <br />
