An unin- <br />terrupted street ending in a cul-de -sac and generally <br />designated by,a name. <br />Secondary roads connecting with each other. <br />Loops and Circles <br />Circles could be short streets that return to them- <br />selves. Loops could be short drives that begin and <br />end in the same street (as shown in Figure 3) <br />Circular or semicircular roads. <br />A circle is a secondary road that begins and circles <br />back to terminate on the same road. <br />Circles —loop streets. <br />A street forming a closed loop, generally designated <br />by a name. <br />Parkway (See also boulevard) <br />A special scenic route or park drive, generally <br />designated by a name. <br />Paths <br />A minor local street running in a diagonal direction, <br />usually between a north -south "avenue" and an <br />east -west street; a path may also be a diagonal con - <br />nector between offset portions of a north -south or <br />east -west collector thoroughfare. <br />Pike <br />State primary- numbered roads. <br />Place <br />A cul-de -sac or permanent dead -end road. <br />FIGURES. Street —a thoroughfare running <br />principally in an east -west direction and usually <br />terminating at a north -south avenue. <br />Avenues run east and west; roads run north and <br />south. <br />Street and avenue designations are reversed for use <br />in incorporated places with a grid pattern. <br />Streets are north -south roads longer than 1,000 feet-, <br />avenues are east -west roads longer than 1,000 feet. <br />Trails <br />A diagonal local street serving as a collector for one <br />or more local thoroughfares. <br />All curvilinear streets. <br />Ways Pdtvr, r _ <br />,._..-Dead-end xights -of -way under 1,000 feet running at <br />- oblique angles to the four points of the compass. `- <br />A minor street that changes direction or begins and <br />ends on the-same thoroughfare-" <br />Diagonal streets less than 1,000 feet in length. <br />7.
