32 <br />the language on engineers and surveyors and changing the <br />proposed two lot limitation on Class C private roads back to <br />three lots for Class C roads 500 feet or less in length. <br />A lengthy discussion ensued regarding whether or not the <br />lot /dwelling unit parameters which determine the class of a <br />private road (bottom of page 87) were hard -and -fast or if <br />there was room for some flexibility in interpretation. Best <br />stated that while the lot /dwelling unit ranges usually <br />controlled the class of a private road, this was not always <br />the case. To help clarify this situation it was suggested <br />that the first two sentences of paragraph four on page 87 be <br />rewritten as follows: <br />The standards and specifications for Private Roads <br />apply to subdivisions in Orange County. The class of <br />road required usually depends on the number of lots <br />served by the road. For example, a Class C road <br />generally serves 1 to 3 lots or dwelling units, a <br />Class B road generally serves 4 to 9 lots or dwelling <br />units, and a Class A road generally serves 10 to 25 <br />lots or dwelling units. <br />Discussion then shifted to the Comprehensive /Thoroughfare Plan <br />items presented at public hearing.
