Collins indicated that <br />3 they were the responsibility of the Public Works Department. If there <br />4 are inconsistencies they will correct them. <br />5 <br />6 In response to a question from Commissioner Halkiotis, Mr. Haas <br />7 indicated that this road was known as Old Chapel Hill Road when he <br />8 moved onto it. It also mentioned that the Department of <br />9 Transportation's address, in the phone book, is Old Chapel Hill Road. <br />10 <br />11 Chairman Carey entered a letter into the record from Janet <br />12 Rigsbee, Hillsborough Planning Director, indicating opposition to the <br />13 renaming of this road. <br />14 <br />15 Mr. Haas stated that he was in receipt of a letter from Horace <br />16 Johnson, Mayor of Hillsborough, to the Orange County Board of <br />17 Commissioner indicating that the Hillsborough Town Board voted <br />18 unanimously to _recommend that the road be named Old Chapel Hill Drive. <br />19 <br />20 Goff Coe, Planning Assistant for the Town of Hillsborough, <br />21 indicated that the Planning Staff and the Town Commissioners held <br />22 different views on this issue. <br />23 <br />24 Commissioner Willhoit asked if the name Old Chapel Hill /86 had <br />25 been considered? <br />26 <br />X27 Mr. Joe Tyler, a resident of Old Highway 86, spoke in favor of <br />renaming of the renaming of Old Highway 86. <br />29 <br />30 Mr. Don Collins, a resident of Old Highway 86, spoke in <br />31 opposition to the renaming of Old Highway 86. <br />32 <br />33 Ms. Sharon Tyler, a resident of Old Highway 86, spoke in favor of <br />34 renaming of Old Highway 86. <br />35 <br />36 Commissioner Hartwell suggested dropping the word "Old" from the <br />37 name and calling it Chapel Hill Drive /Hillsborough. <br />38 <br />39 A motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by <br />40 Commissioner Willhoit, to table this matter to receive further <br />41 ,information from the staff and for clarification of Hillsborough's <br />42 position on this renaming. <br />43 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />44 <br />45 3. Rural Route 1 - Cedar Grove <br />49 This presentation was made by Marvin Collins. In summary this <br />50 item was presented to receive citizen comment on proposed house and <br />51 building numbers to be assigned to orange County Rural Routes 7 and 3 <br />52 Hillsborough and Route 1 Cedar Grove. Per an agreement reached <br />53 between Orange County and the US Postal Services, all rural box <br />54 numbers are being converted to street addresses within the County. <br />
