After the hearing on Play 29, 1990, I <br />felt real good about the manner in which you handled our request <br />and 7roceeded to move on the petition that you asked us to <br />secL:r e . <br />Our honest effort on the petition seems to have fallen cn deaf <br />ears. We would have hoped that sixty -five (65!> percent of the <br />landowners on our road favoring a name change to Old Chapel Hill <br />Drive would have received more respect. These citizens and <br />landowners deserve the right to the pride which comes with living <br />on a street or road named according to their choosing. The <br />climate of the meeting last night was that you are willing to <br />ignore, not only the petitioners, but those who spoke in favor of <br />the renaning because only ONIE landowner s:-oke against it- <br />In the hearing you allowed the presentation of evidence of "some- <br />eighty names- of people who are not even landowners along cur` <br />road: you a -lso allowed one person to 5ugg95t that he co+ald get - <br />seventy or eighty names of people against the Change from <br />Hillsborough to Carrborc. No one informed the person that v,P arc_ <br />not dealing with - the entire road, but just from I -E5 to P -!ew <br />Hope /Arthur Minnis Road. I <br />cervainly appears that the planning people are now using dirty, <br />uncerhanded tri =k5 in order to gain ;,heir desires.
