ENDORSEMENT LETTER - TJCOG REGIONAL IMAGE GUIDELINES <br />To approve and authorize the Chair to sign a letter of <br />endorsement in support of Triangle J's NEA grant application for the <br />Regional Image Guidelines project. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />VI. RESOLUTIONS PROCLAMATIONS <br />A. PROCLAMATION -- CHILDREN'S DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Halkiotis, seconded by <br />Commissioner Marshall to proclaim October 14 as "Children's Day" in, <br />Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br />The Proclamation is stated below: <br />A PROCLAMATION <br />CHILDREN'S DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA <br />1990 <br />WHEREAS, the United States is blessed with an abundance of resources, <br />the greatest of which is our children. They are certainly <br />the most precious gift we have been given. <br />WHEREAS, it is our responsibility to see that our children grow up in <br />_.._. an environment of love and caring. In today's society they <br />face many challenges on the -road to adulthood. They are <br />called on to -make tough choices at early ages. -Violence and <br />drug abuse are but two of the challenges they face today. <br />WHEREAS, Our nation's future lies with today's children. Children <br />carry the promise of tomorrow. They should always feel cared <br />for and loved. Cooperation from the home, the school and the <br />community is needed to fulfill our responsibilities to young <br />children. <br />WHEREAS, the County of Orange has a dedicated commitment to insure <br />that all children will reach their full physical, <br />intellectual and spiritual potential. <br />WHEREAS, the County of Orange supports the efforts of the Orange <br />County Coalition for a Healthier Tomorrow for coordinating <br />a county -wide "Celebration of Children." <br />WHEREAS, this "Celebration of Children" is a time for the community <br />to demonstrate to children that we value, support, and <br />believe in them. <br />
