A PROCLAMATION <br />CHILDREN'S DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA <br />WHEREAS, the United States is blessed with an abundance of <br />resources, the greatest of which is our children. They <br />are certainly the most precious gift we have been given. <br />WHEREAS, it is our responsibility to see that our children grow <br />up in an environment of love and caring. In today's <br />society they face many challenges on the road to <br />adulthood. They are called on to make tough choices at <br />early ages. Violence and drug abuse are but two of the <br />challenges they face today. <br />WHEREAS, Our nation's future lies with today's children. Children <br />carry the promise of tomorrow. They should always feel <br />cared for and loved. Cooperation from the home, the <br />school and the community is needed to fulfill our <br />responsibilities to young children. <br />WHEREAS, the County of Orange has a dedicated commitment to insure <br />that all children will reach their full physical, <br />intellectual and spiritual potential. <br />WHEREAS, the County of Orange supports the efforts of the Orange <br />County Coalition for a Healthier Tomorrow for <br />coordinating a county -wide "Celebration "Of Children." <br />WHEREAS, this "Celebration of Children" is a time for the <br />community to demonstrate to children that we value, <br />support, and believe in them. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br />proclaim October 14, 1990 as "Children's Day" in Orange <br />County and encourage all citizens to support the goals <br />of the Coalition and to join together to say "Kids Count <br />in Orange County." <br />This the 1st day of October, 1990. <br />Moses Carey, Jr. <br />ATTEST: <br />Beverly A.
