Page 2 <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into the day of <br />1990 by and between Orange County, North Carolina, 109 Court <br />Street, Hillsborough, North Carolina, hereinafter referred3 to as "County" <br />and the Hillsborough area Chamber of Commerce, 150 East Ning Street, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina, and the Chapel Hill,Carrboro Chamber of <br />Commerce, 104 South Estes Drive, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, hereinafter <br />referred to as the "Chambers <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, the creation of the Orange County Visitors Council is <br />consistent with Challenge 9 as detailed in the Orange County Economic <br />Development Strategic Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the development of a Visitor Services Program, the <br />development of more comprehensive visitor information, and a public <br />awareness and educational program on the economic value and benefits of a <br />successful visitor program, is an integral part of meeting the objectives <br />specified in the Orange County Economic Development Strategic Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Economic Development Commission has <br />endorsed the visitor services concept and has encouraged the County's <br />support., financial and otherwise; and <br />WHEREAS, economic develoErient is an important public_ purpose which <br />can be aided by contributions of Orange County funds; and <br />WHEREAS, Orange county supports the Economic Development Strategic <br />Plan, and public- private initiatives to implement the Plan. <br />Now, therefore, in consideration of the above and the mutual <br />covenants and considerations hereinafter set forth, the County and the <br />Chambers agree as follows: <br />1. The Chambers will provide services as outlined in the 'May 1990 <br />Outline of Proposal, Exhibit A to the Agreement, as amended by the <br />Economic Development Commission which amendments are listed as Exhibit <br />B, to achieve the goal of developing and implementing comprehensive <br />county -wide programs. <br />2. The Chambers and the Economic Development Commission shall <br />establish a County Visitor's Council that shall: provide assistance to <br />visitor information requests, lead a general county -wide public awareness <br />and educational program on the economic value and benefits of a <br />successful visitor's program, and investigate and recommend alternatives <br />for the long term financial support of the program. <br />r <br />
