ARIM: Yes X No <br />INFCHRMATION CONTACT: <br />Ted Abernathy, EDC Director <br />(Extension- 2325) <br />TEL.EPHDNTE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill - 967- 9251/968 -4501 <br />The purpose of this contract is the implementation of <br />the EDC Strategic Plan Challenge 9. <br />The Board of County Commissioners approved the concept <br />of an Economic Development Strategic Plan in FY 1987 <br />88 and in March of 1989 approved the completed Plan. <br />Challenge 9 of the Plan is to develop and implement a <br />comprehensive county -wide program to attract and serve <br />visitors. To that end, in July 1990, funds were <br />approved in the Economic Development Commission budget <br />to implement this contract. The EDC contract funds <br />will be partially used to extend the hours of the <br />Dickson House in Hillsborough and to fund additional <br />staff support at the Visitors Center in Chapel Hill. <br />To approve the contract and authorize the County <br />Manager to execute. <br />
