1 MINUTES <br />2 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />3 REGULAR MEETING <br />4 OCTOBER 1, 1990 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular <br />8 session on October 1, 1990 at 7:30 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Old <br />9 Courthouse, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />10 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Moses Carey, Jr., and <br />11 Commissioners Stephen Halkiotis, John Hartwell and Shirley E. <br />12 Marshall. <br />13 BOARD MEMBER ABSENT: Commissioner Don Willhoit <br />14 ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill <br />15 STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Assistant <br />16 County Manager Albert Kittrell, Economic Development Director Ted <br />17 Abernathy, Deputy Clerk to the Board Kathy Baker, Clerk to the <br />18 Board Beverly A. BOARD COMMENTS <br />33 Commissioner Halkiotis asked about the cost of mailing the <br />34 "Report to the People" to every citizen in the County instead of <br />35 inserting it in the Chapel Hill Herald and the News of Orange. John <br />36 Link indicated it would have cost $9,000 to mail the report to every <br />37 ---- taxpayer. By inserting it in the newspapers, it cost about $1200. A <br />38 total of 40,000 will be distributed. <br />39 _ _ .Chair- Carey referred to the letter-of commenda_ti.Qn from Sheriff <br />40°- Pendergrass- a -th-e -new -Fire Marshall, Mike-Tapp. Hecommenvded - there <br />41 Marshall for his fast response to the Sheriff's request. He asked about <br />42 apot1righting- and s- ituation in Orange County. <br />43 <br />44 II. COUNTY MANAGER'S REPORT - NONE <br />45 <br />46 III. ADDITIONS OR CHANGES TO THE AGENDA <br />47 John Link added a proclamation for Water Conservation under <br />48 proclamations as VI -B. <br />49 <br />50 IV. AUDIENCE COMMENTS - NONE <br />51 <br />52 PUBLIC CHARGE <br />53 <br />54 Chairman Moses Carey, Jr. read the public charge. <br />
