BACKGROUND: (1) Certain 1989 -90 designated appropriations were not fully expended at June 30, 1990. Many of these were on outstanding purchase orders, and in accordance with the 1990 -91 budget ordinance, were reappropriated to the 1990 -91 budget. Funds for other planned expenditures that were not encumbered have been set aside as a reserved portion of fund balance. In order to carry these items forward and authorize their expenditure in 1990 -91, it is necessary for the Board to approve the attached technical amendment. A portion of these funds, $2,746, are related to the Aging Department's Transportation Assistance program which is no longer administered through the General Fund; instead it is accounted for in a grant project ordinance. The attached grant project ordinance will increase the appropriated grant funds by this amount and authorize program expenditures through June 30, 1991. (2) The Economic Development Commission has received $6,000 in donations from Duke Power. The attached budget amendment will appropriate these funds for use in printing marketing materials for implementation of a portion of the EDC Strategic Plan. (3) The Recreation and Parks Department has received a total of $1,576 in donations for use in supporting the Senior Games program. The attached budget amendment will appropriate these funds to help support the next Senior Games.
