This project represents an important follow- through <br />effort begun almost three years ago with NEA support and documented <br />in the recently published Building a Regional Image report. <br />The proposed Regional Image Guidelines project responds to <br />growing concerns in this community and others throughout the Region <br />for development standards that are both practical and sensitive to <br />local visual character.. The project as outlined will build on the <br />survey findings reported.in Building,a Regional -Image and will go <br />on to involve citiaens:in a series...of workshops.that will help to <br />further articulate specific appearance and image issues that need <br />to be addressed in the guidelines. When. completed these guidelines <br />can be integrated into the planning.and development review process <br />of city and county governments. Moreover,, it will continue the <br />very important effort.of raising the 'level..of public awareness <br />about local and regional appearance issues. <br />Triangle J has proven _their capability in, the area of <br />community and regional appearance with the work that resulted in <br />Building a Regional Image and with the on -going work of the <br />Triangle J Regional Appearance Committee which has sponsored <br />workshops and other projects that have contributed to the quality <br />of this Region's image. <br />sincerely, <br />co <br />Moses Carey, Jr., <br />Board of Commissi <br />
