CONSERVATION OF WATER <br />14 <br />Paul Thames stated that on September 28, the water in Lake <br />15 <br />Orange was 215" below the spillway. He sent out letters and informed <br />16 <br />all the members of the Eno River Water Users Group and the Division <br />of <br />17 <br />Water Resources that as of 3:00 p.m. on that day, their allocation bad <br />18 <br />been cut back to the 60 to 800 storage in Lake Orange figure and that <br />19 <br />the Eno River instream flow would be decreased from 1.1mgd to 650,000 <br />20 <br />gpd. <br />21 <br />22 <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded <br />by <br />23 <br />Commissioner Halkiotis to proclaim voluntary water conservation for <br />24 <br />those who live in the County and are served by the Orange - Alamance and <br />25 <br />the Town of Hillsborough water systems. <br />26 <br />27 <br />PUBLIC PROCLAMATION <br />28 <br />REGARDING USE OF WATER OBTAINED <br />29 <br />FROM THE PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM <br />30 <br />SUPPLIED BY THE ORANGE- ALAMANCE WATER SYSTEM, INC. AND <br />31 <br />THE TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH AND <br />32- -- <br />FROM ANY RAW WATER SUPPLY WITHIN ORANGE COUNTY USED BY <br />3.3 <br />THE ORANGE - ALAMANCE WATER SYSTEM, INC. AND <br />34 <br />THE TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH <br />35 <br />36 <br />Pursuant to the provisions of the ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR <br />37 <br />THE CONSERVATION OF WATER DURING A WATER SHORTAGE, RESTRICTING THE 'U <br />E <br />38 <br />OF WATER AND WATER WITHDRAWALS, AND ALLOCATING AUGMENTED STREAMFLOW FROM <br />39 <br />RESERVOIRS, I, Moses Carey, Jr., Chair of the Board of County <br />40 <br />Commissioners, having been provided with information that the wat <br />r <br />41 <br />level of Lake Orange is more than two feet, four inches below full <br />do <br />42 <br />hereby issue this PUBLIC PROCLAMATION declaring to all persons that <br />a <br />43 <br />stage II water shortage ALERT is now in effect applicable to.users <br />of <br />44 <br />water from the public water system supplied by the Orange Alamance Water <br />45 <br />System, Inc. and the Town of Hillsborough and from any raw water supply <br />46 <br />within Orange County used by the orange - Alamance Water System, Inc., and <br />47 <br />the Town of Hillsborough. The following voluntary water conservation <br />48 <br />restrictions are now applicable: <br />49 <br />1. Use shower for bathing rather than bathtub and limit <br />50 <br />shower to no more than four (4) minutes. <br />51 <br />2. Limit flushing of toilets by multiple usage. <br />52 <br />3. Do not leave faucets running while shaving or rinsing <br />
