ORANGE COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN <br />BASIC <br />I. PURPOSE <br />This plan predetermines actions to be taken by the government <br />agencies and private organizations of Orange County to reduce <br />the vulnerabilities of people and property to disaster and <br />establish capabilities to respond effectively to the actual <br />occurrence of a disaster. <br />II. SITUATION AND ASSUMPTIONS <br />A. Situation <br />1. General description of area. Orange County is <br />located in North Carolina Emergency Management Area <br />and FEMA Region Iv. It's geographic location is in <br />the central section of the State. Its bound on the <br />East by Durham County, on the South by Chatham <br />County, on the North by Person and Caswell <br />Counties, and on the West by Alamance County <br />(reference APPENDIX 3, COUNTY MAP). The current <br />population of the County and municipalities within <br />the County is approximately 98,500. The total area <br />of the County is 400.2 square miles. <br />2.
