BACKGROUND: In 1983,,' as part of its Land Records modernization program, Orange County adopted an ordinance which was intended to require instruments presented for recordation with the Orange County Register of Deeds to contain all of the information which can be required by N.C. Gen. Stat... §161 -30. The Ordinance adopted does not require the information which can be required by G.S.. §161- 30(a). This was not intended, and, since 1983, this necessary information has-been provided with plats and other instruments recorded. Recently the Register of Deeds authority to require this information was questioned.- RECOMMENDATION': Adopt the amendment -to the Ordinance to Implement the Orange County band Records Modernization Plan..
