Land Records Moderniza- Chapel Hill -.968-4501 <br />tion Plan Mebane -- 2'27 -2031 <br />3. proposed Amendment to the.Ordinance Durham - 688 -7331 <br />to Implement the Orange Ca. ,Land. _________ _ __ ___ _--- ....__ - - -- <br />--- tecFcrr6 Xo- Zb�nizatian -glan- <br />PURPOSE: To consider an amendment to the Ordinance to Implement <br />the Orange County Land Records Modernization Plan which if adopted <br />would require the Register of Deeds to require a plat presented for <br />recordation to contain the property owner's address and all other <br />instruments presented for recordation to contain the grantee's <br />address. <br />BACKGROUND: In 1983,,' as part of its Land Records modernization <br />program, Orange County adopted an ordinance which was intended to <br />require instruments presented for recordation with the Orange <br />County Register of Deeds to contain all of the information which <br />can be required by N.C. Gen. Stat... §161 -30. The Ordinance adopted <br />does not require the information which can be required by G.S.. <br />§161- 30(a). This was not intended, and, since 1983, this necessary <br />information has-been provided with plats and other instruments <br />recorded. Recently the Register of Deeds authority to require this <br />information was questioned.- <br />RECOMMENDATION': Adopt the amendment -to the Ordinance to Implement <br />the Orange County band Records Modernization Plan.. <br />
