The remaining variety of Animal Control services beyond those expressly included in the scope
of service far this agreement will remain the responsibility of the Town of Carrboro.
County and Town staff will continue to negotiate the development of a potentially longer-term
contract for the delivery of all animal control services to the Town by the Animal Services
Department. Any contract proposal beyond the interim period addressed here will be
thoroughly evaluated by bath parties according to cost and service standards, and brought back
for final approval to the elected boards,
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The limited scope of services as proposed, if approved by the Town of
Carrboro, would yield additional revenues to the County in the estimated amount of $7,420,
based upon a projected 14-week period, during FY 2006-07.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve Animal Services
entering into a proposed contract with the Town of Carrboro for limited Animal Control services,
recognizing that said contract is dependent upon approval by the Town; and authorize the Chair
to execute the final contract document, pending final review by staff and the County Attorney.
