�t CO <br />rr�.E6 pi <br />August 23, 1990 <br />FROM THE DIRECTOR <br />CHARLOTTE REGIONAL CENSUS CENTER <br />BUREAU OF THE CENSUS <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE <br />Bureau of the Census <br />Regional Census Center <br />Charlotte, NC 28217 -1355 <br />As part of the 1990 Decennial Census Local Review Program, we <br />are providing Form D -77, the Postcensus Local Review Listing, <br />for your local government. This listing provides for your <br />review postcensus counts of housing unit and group quarters <br />population at the 1990 census block level. These census counts <br />are based on the results of census enumeration and processing <br />activities completed through late summer. Since these counts <br />are partial and preliminary in nature, they are subject to <br />change pending completion of ongoing census activities, <br />including Postcensus Local Review. The Census Bureau neither <br />encourages nor sanctions their use for official purposes such as <br />budgeting or redistricting. <br />The Postcensus Local Review counts are tabulated based on the <br />boundaries of your local government that were in effect as of <br />January 1, 1990. This is the official date for all boundary <br />information used for the 1990 census. If the Postcensus Local <br />Review maps did not reflect those boundaries legally in effect <br />as of that date, we requested that you submit the documentation <br />outlined in Chapter 3 of the 1990 Decennial Census Local Review <br />Program Technical Guide. To provide sufficient time to verify <br />and update geographic files before we tabulate the 1990 census, <br />we needed to receive this documentation by August 1, 1990. <br />Please review these counts using the boundaries shown on the <br />Postcensus Local Review maps and guidelines provided in the <br />technical guide. The Census Bureau will accept only challenges <br />to housing unit and group quarters population counts at the <br />census block level. The data provided at other geographic levels <br />are for informational purposes only and may not be challenged. <br />Your block estimates must be based on census block numbers and <br />boundaries on the Postcensus Local Review maps. When creating <br />your estimates, use sources similar to those described in <br />Chapter 5 of the technical guide. <br />
