Mr. L Harding Hughes, Jr.
January 14, 1987
Page 3
r t
J
average out of a total pump capacity of 98,400 GPD average. Actual pump capacity
totals 246,000 GPD before applying a 2.5 peaking factor. Excess capacity of 14,725
GPD average exists at this station, again allowing for the additional 10,500 GPD
average provided by the school. In any event, the 3 -inch force mains in the system are
capable of handling the additional influx as evidenced by pump tests performed at both
Woodsedge and Wildwood.
Preliminary design of the necessary facilities to transport sewage to the
Woodsedge pump station for further pumping to the waste treatment plant consists of
8,500 feet of 4 -inch PVC force main and an above ground duplex centrifugal pump
station. The new pump station must be located at the rear of the proposed site so that
discharge from the school can flow by gravity to the pump. The 4 -inch force main will
be routed from the pump station across school property to NC 86, which it will parallel
to the entrance of the Woodsedge development. From that point, the line will travel
down the Woodsedge access road where it will empty into the existing pump station.
The total cost for supplying sewer service to the school is estimated to be $138,050,
which includes $19,400 as a perpetual maintenance fee. A breakdown of the unit prices
used to develop this estimate is given in Table 3.
Attached to this report are general location maps of the proposed improvements
for both water and sewer extensions. Be aware that the locations of the proposed lines
are approximate and may be slightly altered pending final design.
If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to let me know.
WDCIbc
Attachments
Sincerely,
David Cain
31
rY
v
