Planning Staff supports
the proposed change to allow a maximum size
of 800 square feet for all efficiency
apartments, regardless of the size of the
principal structure.
Another issue identified by the Planning
Department involves the upgrading of private
roads. The number of efficiency apartments
may increase due to the relaxation of
restrictions. To account for the traffic
impacts of additional dwelling units, it is
proposed that efficiency apartments be
considered in determining the appropriate
classification for a private road.
A Class C road serves up to three lots. A
Class A road serves 10 or more lots. It is
proposed that the Private Road Standards be
amended to specify that a lot containing an
efficiency apartment counts as 1.5 lots in
determining road classification. Planning
Staff will be recommending that such an
amendment be presented for public hearing in
August, 1990.
The Planning Department recommends approval
of the proposed amendment, including the
change to allow an efficiency apartment
with a maximum of 800 square feet regardless
of the size of the principal dwelling.
MOTION: Lewis moved approval of the proposed
amendment.
