I <br />ORANGE C O U N T Y <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: AUGUST 6, 1990 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item # V_ j< <br />SUBJECT: ANIMAL SHELTER PROMISSORY NOTE <br />DEPARTMENT: COUNTY MANAGER PUBLIC HEARING: Yes _X —No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />MANAGER'S OFFICE, EXTENSION 2300 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill -- 967- 9251/968 -4501 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a contract and promissory note between the <br />Animal Protection Society (APS) of Orange County, Inc. <br />and Orange County which affirms the commitment of the <br />$61,031 contribution from APS for the expansion of the <br />Animal Shelter. <br />BACKGROUND: Because of investment maturity dates, the Animal <br />Protection Society has asked to pay the $61,031 <br />contribution in the following way: <br />(1) $6,831 on or before 5:00 p.m., August 7, 1990 <br />(2) $54,200 on or before 5:00 p.m. October 4, 1990 <br />The County Attorney has written the attached legal <br />instrument to reflect the above - referenced payment <br />schedule. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the <br />Chair to sign the contract and promissory note. <br />
