Of own of Jiillshurnug4
HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA
June 26. 1990
Mr. Eddie Kirk
Orange County Planning Department
Hillsborough, N. C. 27278
Dear Eddie:
101 E. Orange Street
P.O. Box 429
(919) 732 -2104
R E,
mr-MAM
This letter is to certify to your office that the utility
system which has been proposed for the expansion of the Woods -
edge Mobile Home Park has received preliminary approval from our
Town Engineer, Mr. David Cain. He has certified previously that
the capacity is available for the Town to provide water and sewer
service to the proposed area. By copy of his letter to you dated
June 18, 1990, he has repeated his certification that there is
sufficient reserve capacity available to handle the expansion.
(Although the January, 1987, letter is dealing with the water and
sewer extension to the New Hope Elementary School, there are
figures stated which show that the capacity, after full buildout
of the. W000dsedge Mobile Home Park, still exists in the pump
stations to handle the school's discharge).
The Town of Hillsborough participates in a voluntary capaci-
ty use agreement for water withdrawn from the Eno River. The
water treatment plant presently has a capacity to treat 3.0 mgd
but we are only treating about 1.5 mgd at the present time.
Under the Capacity Use Agreement we are limited to 1.51 mgd
withdrawal from the Eno River, but we have an outside source
agreement with the Orange Water and Sewer Authority to purchase
up to 2.0 mgd. Therefore, we have no problem with the water
capacity at the present time. We can sell up to 3.51 mgd.
The wastewater treatment plant has a 2.0 mgd capacity and we
are using slightly less than 1.0 mgd. Therefore the capacity is
available at the treatment plant to treat the additional dis-
charge.
There are two sewage pump stations that exist in the Woods -
edge Mobile Home Park. Although the lower one may have to be
reworked to provide larger pumps to handle the additional flow,
the remaining pump station at Woodsedge as well as others in the
relay - pumping system have adequate capacity to provide for the
needs of this addition. The existing lines do have the reserve
capacity to handle the additional discharge.
The Board of Commissioners has also given their preliminary
approval to the proposed expansion of the mobile home park. The
final plans for the expansion and any modifications proposed for
the pump station will have to be approved by the Board of Commis-
sioners before the improvements can be made.
