TELEPHONE NUMBER <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 968 -4501 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To consider a request from the Town of Chapel Hill, <br />Administrator of the Orange Regional Landfill, to establish a <br />new schedule of tipping fees beginning July 1, 1990. <br />BACKGROUND: Since the beginning of the joint partnership, the tipping fee <br />has been used to finance the cost of landfill, maintenance <br />operations, equipment and related services. The reserve from <br />the tipping fee has been used to purchase land, equipment and <br />related services or materials. The Landfill Owners Group <br />recommended approval of the fees at their March 2, 1990 <br />meeting. <br />Current tip fees are: <br />General trash <br />Construction wastes <br />Ash from the U.N.C. <br />Asbestos <br />Pickup trucks or tr <br />Cars <br />$15 /ton <br />and bulky wastes $17 /ton <br />Power Plant $19 /ton <br />$100 /ton <br />ailers $6 each <br />$3 each <br />The proposed 1990 -91 tip fees are: <br />Mixed solid waste <br />$20 /tan <br />Construction waste <br />$20 /tan <br />Ash <br />$20 /ton <br />Asbestos <br />$100 /tan <br />Pickup trucks or trailers <br />$6 each <br />Cars <br />$3 each <br />Tires <br />$1 each <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Recommend adoption of new landfill fee schedule. <br />
