ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 26, 1990
SUBJECT: Resolution of Participation
Matchin Grant P
DEPp,RTMENT:Central Land Records
ATTACHMENT(S): Application
Resolution
Letter
1.
Action Agenda
Item NO.
in the State's Land Records Modernization
PUBLIC HEARING: Yes x No
INFORMATION CONTACT: Roscoe Reeve
Ext 2501 .
TELEPHONE NUMBER:
Hillsborough -
732-8181
Chapel Hill --
958 -4501
Mebane -
227 -2031
Durham -
688 -7331
PURPOSE: to adopt a resolution indicating the desire of Orange County to
continue to participate in the State's Land Records Grant Progam for
1990 -1991. The resolution is required by the State and qualifies the
County to receive a grant award, on a matching basis, for the remapping
and GIS projects.
BACKGROUND: Counties seeking grant funds from the State Department of
Environment Health & Natural Resources, for improving their land records,
must pass a resolution of participation each year to qualify for the
matching grant award. Orange County has received matching funds, and has
participated in the program, since 1979. With these funds the County has
been able to support its multi -year, multi - phased remapping program, and
the implementation of GIS. Funds for grants are determined each year by
the General Assembly.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : that the board of Commissioners adopt the participation
resolution, and authorizes its Chair to sign a copy to be forwarded to
the State Department of Environment Health & Natural Resources.
