The first phase will provide the capability of County
to complete its re- mapping project, in which the software and hardware
will run the-digital data delivered by the mapping vendor, L. Robert
Kimball & Associates. It will also initiate GIS in several
participating jurisdictions in Chapel Hill Township. ESRI is the
leading vendor for GIS in the world, and have proposed an advanced
workstation environment for the Orange system. The initial phases of
GIS will develop applications for Land Records, Assessment, Planning,
and E911. Later phases will include almost all of the County offices
that deal with geographic information, as a part of the County's CIP.
Funding for the first installment of GIS hardware and software will be
accomplished by means of the transfers between projects reflected in
the attached capital project ordinance amendments. These changes were
included in the 1990 -95 CIP adopted by the Board in February, 1990.
RECOMMENDATION(S): That the Commissioners approve the Agreement between
County and ESRI, authorize the Chair to sign the Agreement, and approve
the -- osed capital project ordinance amendments.
P P
