Aging Plan Process TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br />Hillsborough- - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 968 -4501 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To update the County Commissioners on what the HSMT's Aging <br />Plan Technical Committee has planned and carried out to date <br />concerning the development of a State Aging Plan. <br />BACKGROUNDf Orange County has been requested to assist the N.C. Division <br />of Aging (NCDOA) in preparing a State Aging Plan which is <br />required by the N. C. General Assembly in March, 19.91. The <br />Aging Plan is to include four elements: <br />1. A detailed analysis of the needs of our State's older <br />adults (defined as 65 +) <br />2. An analysis of services currently provided <br />3. An analysis of additional services needed <br />4. Specific recommendations on expansion and funding of <br />current and addtional services <br />The Orange County Human Services Management Team (HSMT) is the <br />designated lead organization to carry out the county planning <br />process. The County Aging Director, as HSMT member, has been <br />assigned the responsibility to oversee the process, provide <br />liaison with TJCOG and-to staff HSMT's Aging Plan Technical <br />Committee (Attachment). Jerry Pasmore will report on the <br />committee's charge to: <br />1. administer two state surveys -A "Supplemental Resource" <br />survey which inventory the private and public resources <br />being provided on behalf of the Frail Elderly in the home <br />or community setting. A "County Service Priorities and <br />Issue Identification" survey which identifies services, <br />issues, unmet needs to be addressed in the State Plan for <br />serving Frail Elderly in the home or community setting. <br />The survey results will be certified by the County <br />Commissioners in August, 1990 and submitted to TJCOG and <br />the N.C. Division of Aging (see Timetable). <br />2. assist in preparing a comprehensive County Aging Plan <br />addressing all Older Adults and preparing an application <br />for state model project funds to develop the County Plan. <br />If funded, the plannng project would be for $ 20,000 , <br />effective July 1, 1990 through June 30,1991. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />Receive as information. <br />
